Shapesmith is a superhero from the planet Mars.
History
Origins
Shapesmith is a Martian who used his metamorphic abilities to disguise himself as astronaut Rus Livingston when he landed on Mars and came back to Earth with Invincible, stranding the real Rus on Mars.[1]
Guardians of the Globe
After losing his job at N.A.S.A[2] he decided to use his superpowers to fight crime after seeing Martian Man on television.[3] During his first night out as a superhero he took down the Lizard League on his own.[4] He has become a member of The Guardians of the Globe, mainly because Shapesmith captured Doc Seismic.[5] When The Immortal and Dupli-Kate announced that they got married Cecil arrived to warn them that a ship from Mars was coming to Earth and Shapesmith got visibly nervous.[6] He confessed that he was actually a Martian and that the whole situation was his fault and accompanied the Guardians on the mission to stop the Sequids.[7] After arriving on the ship he revealed himself as a Martian but his compatriots attacked him as the Sequids rebellion was his fault but The Immortal defended him.[8] During the fight against the Sequids he shielded Robot with his body and gave him time to finish his weapon.[9]
Death
Robot eventually killed Shapesmith when he took over the world.[10]Attributes
Powers
- Martian Physiology: Shapesmith is a Martian, and thus has Martian powers.
- Shape-Shifting: As a Martian he can manipulate his body to form various shapes and even resemble other people. He can replicate the senses and physical attributes of the beings he imitates but not their superhuman powers. He can also combine the DNA of previously-imitated beings to create composite forms.[11]
- Elasticity: Shapesmith can stretch his body to great lengths.[9][12]
- Size Alteration: Shapesmith can add and substract mass to his body when assuming shapes smaller or larger than his natural Martian form.[11]
- Superhuman Strength: By assuming the shape of other heroes like The Immortal or Bolt Shapesmith aquires a great deal of strength.[4]
- Superhuman Durability: By assuming the shape of heroes like Bulletproof Shapesmith can become immune to small caliber bullets.[4]
- Amphibious: Shapesmith can grow gills to breath underwater.[13]
- Regeneration: As long as his core is not destroyed Shapesmith can recover from most injuries.[14]
- Shape-Shifting: As a Martian he can manipulate his body to form various shapes and even resemble other people.
