According to Zechariah, to make someone a true vampire they need to be drained of their blood, nearly completely — and they would have to drink vampiric blood to sustain themselves. Simply drinking the blood of a vampire will temporarily give the drinker limited powers.[1] Zechariah also claimed any scars a person has before being turned into a vampire would be with them for eternity.[2]
According to the Elder Brood, sunlight is the only thing that can kill a vampire. The stake through the heart, as it is commonly known, is ineffective. What the stake does, if driven through the chest, and plunged into the earth beneath the vampire -- is bind him to the earth. The vampire will be unable to move on his own, there, pinned to the ground, he will await the sun's blazing kiss of death.[3] Despite his own claims, the Elder Brood himself was able to kill the vampire Zechariah with a direct blow to his heart.[4]
